After hearing that almost every state in the country has snow, I doubt that I am the only one wishing for Spring! What a timely theme challenge that the fantastic design team from the Paper Players has for us today. Spring means color and flowers – my two most favorite stampin’ things to play with!
I got Flower Patch out and immediately chose the large flower. This flower is great and can be done in so many ways, but the flower looks great with some dimension. It was stamped four times with Crisp Cantaloupe, and two of those were stamped off once to achieve a lighter shade. This stamp set has coordinating framelits so it was used for the largest shape, then I began the process of cutting out each of the smaller layers – a little time consuming but what’s a few minutes and so worth the effort. Before I added the dimensionals between each layer, a bone folder was used to lightly curl each layer down (not up like I normally do). But, what to use for the background for this pretty flower? I went for the pretty polka-dots in the Irresistibly Yours DSP and sponged Soft Sky over it. By the time it was all covered I really think it ended up looking more like Pool Party! It really is pretty though and has such a nice shade of blue. I then took some burlap ribbon and fringed the sides. The leaves were stamped in Wild Wasabi, the large stamp was stamped off and the smaller stamp for the inside was not, giving it some definition. Lastly, the butterfly was stamped in Crumb Cake and cut with the Butterflies thinlit. Just a few embellies placed around and then this card was complete. So, I hope it gives you some inspiration and even more hope that Spring is right around the corner!!
