August 2014 Paper Pumpkin, Daydream Medallions

Imagine my little happy dance as I checked my mailbox on Saturday and sitting on top of a stack of bills, college recruiting letters (for my daughter, of course) and a load of junk mail was the familiar red box with my latest Paper Pumpkin kit! I am sure that I looked ridiculous but I didn’t care! Finding something enjoyable in that mailbox is my treat to myself every month! I ran – well, walked fast – into my house and opened the box as quickly as I could. I truly love opening the tissue paper and seeing the surprise inside! This month’s box was no exception with great paper, laser cut sentiments as well as stamps that I know I will use again and again and even very cool envelopes to use. Fantastic kit, Stampin’ Up!!

So I played to my heart’s content this weekend and came up with a few cards. The card above will be submitted to the Mojo Monday sketch challenge this week. I stepped up the kit just a little, adding the Daydream Medallions stamp set for the focal point. Here is the sketch:

So, here are the other projects I made with the same kit:

The Smile card is so pretty! This one is going in my daughter’s backpack on the first day of school in just a couple of weeks. I added Strawberry Slush cardstock, Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon and the retired Strawberry Slush Stretch Trim. I also punched the shapes from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from one of the mini cards in the kit, then added pearls and rhinestones. I will be submitting this card to the My Pumpkin Challenge. If you haven’t been to that blog, it is a great place to get inspiration for your Paper Pumpkin kits.

The Serene Silhouettes card started out masculine but I am not so sure now! haha I heat embossed the image in Early Espresso then sponged Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake over the image. I embossed the Strawberry Slush cardstock with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder then sponged it with Crumb Cake. The linen thread that came with the kit was wrapped around the image then topped with the new Gold metal button in the new Holiday Mini catalog.
